The First Ray of the Year 2007
At 5 AM on the morning of the first day of the year 2007 we started for the shrine of Baba Balak Nath Ji. We had planned to start our first day at the shrine of the Baba Balak Nath Ji as an act of gratefulness for all that he had done for us the previous year. The fog was so dense that visibility was not more that 4-5 meters and it was tough driving the vehicle! It was biting cold but the blanket helped us sitting on the rear seat to have some warmth. It must have been around 7-30 AM that we reached the shrine. It still was under a deep cover of fog and the temple raised its head proud and high from the fog engulfing everything around. It was breathtaking view. I felt humbled before the Almighty. When we started that earlyWe had thought that we would be amongst the first few at the shrine but I was surprised to find the rush at the temple. People from far off places had come to visit the temple and the parking place was full with vehicles with outside state number plates! The long queue for the male devotees chanting the prayers for Baba Ji filled all hearts with piety and devotion. We had our share of divine darshana from the women gallery and then started to wait for our male companions. The temple reverberated with so much activity and the devotees were distributing prasaad to others. It was around 9-30 AM that we finally started back. While coming down the stairs, I looked at the shrine and was mesmerized by the sun light that bathed it in! I didn’t know who was doing whom proud as the sunlight and the shrine both seemed to complement each other and rather seemed to be submerged in one! I captured a few shots and these are the best so far that I have shot. The shrine and the sun seem to have become one in the photographs. It was the most wonderful way to have welcomed the first rays of the sun on first day of the year 2007. May the blessings of the God be always with us for the days to come!
